this is very harsh. it is similar to the "clean windshield" situation nowadays. back in the days -- late 70s, 80s and 90s -- on long distance travels by car you had to stop quite often to wipe the windscreen clean from all the bugs that had found their end on the screen. the last time i drove longer distances by car (300+ km to the baltic coast) i had to clear the windshield only once: after i had finished my trip to the coast and was back home.
and these missing insects are one of te reasons for the decline in birdsong during the past decades ...
