I was on another nice trip through the #
Hypergrid again today, especially because I had no clothes with me.
All my destinations were Adult-rated, or so I thought. One of them, #
Caribou, was still somewhat incomplete, and I would have to swim from island to island. Baggage would have been impractical, as would have been streetwear. And I didn't want to spend half of my trip, to a mall new less, in wet swimwear. My parents told me to take off wet swimwear as soon as possible. Besides, it was searing hot. So I decided to go on that trip with nothing but sunscreen on me.
One of my earlier stopovers was Aaack Aardvark's Arcadia Shop. Aaack had just redesigned it, made room for more content and refreshed what had already been there. To be on the safe side, I decided to pick up everything I already had again. Good thing I know that Aaack doesn't mind nudity on his sims although, I think, he has yet to see me naked.
While I was on the first floor (second floor for you Americans), someone else entered the sim. I was done anyway, so I took the brand-new steampunk lift to the open-air top floor with its café, hoping he wouldn't want to check it out, too. I was lucky. Maybe he couldn't even figure out how to operate the lift. When he was gone, I took a walk on the more remote parts of the sim on the ground.
Before I checked the mall sim, I went to Caribou. The various Caribou sims are on their own own grid now and still under reconstruction. I had been at Caribou yesterday already, but I had clothes with me which I would have had to leave on one of the islands to explore the others. That was one more reason for me to return in the nude. I managed to renew all my landmarks and even gain one or two new ones.
In the old Caribou areas, there's still Jeanne's house that's open for everyone to use. Inside it is one of the few showers in the area. I used it to wash off that "summer stench" of sunscreen, saltwater and sweat. Visiting a mall sim while naked is one thing, and I've done that before. But visiting it while sweaty and smelly is something else.
I eventually teleported onto the small grid with the mall I wanted to check out. Not directly onto the mall sim to be safe, also because there were already three avatars on that sim. Fortunately, it's a 2x2 varsim, so I managed not to cross anyone else's path.
One thing that didn't surprise me: Someone had commented that this sim had something for all mesh bodies. Well, it did have clothes and accessories for all Second Life bodies that were released in OpenSim since 2020. As to be expected, it had nothing for any body from the #
Ruth2 family. Or any of the bodies, for that matter.
Other things did surprise me. One was that the sim turned out to be Moderate-rated in spite of being advertised on #
OpenSimWorld as Adult-rated like the rest of the grid as far as I could see. And in #
OpenSim, Moderate doesn't necessarily mean "nudity allowed unless stated otherwise".
Another one was that the northwestern region must have been modified from Linda Kellie's Boardwalk #
OAR, only that the actual boardwalk had been rotated clockwise by 90 degrees. I would never have expected a sim that otherwise consists of illegally obtained Second Life content while not offering anything made in OpenSim to still have such a large chunk of Linda Kellie on it.
Most shops had been cleared of their contents to make room for something new unless one couldn't actually buy anything there. Only one still had some of its original contents. The flip-flops were still there, and while the clothes stands around the corner were mostly empty, there were still two of Linda's old layer bikinis. Buying them would even give me the bikinis instead of the "box" with the bikinis. I already had both, but I still picked up the polka-dotted blue one and put it on right there. Now it wouldn't matter anymore if anyone saw me.
After a break at an outside café table, I decided to check out some of the rides. I had some fun on a carousel on which you can straddle crescent moons. The "topsy-turvy" ride that looks like a ferris wheel at first glance, well, not so much fun. It actually turned me upside-down on each rotation. And when I got off it, I couldn't help but fall past the boardwalk straight into the water.
I swam back to the shore, stepped out of the water, took off the wet bikini, and I was naked again. I couldn't find a towel, so I had to dry from the remaining heat of the day; it was past sunset now. Maybe the bikini would have dried, too, but this incident gave me an excuse to go back to wearing nothing.
But I wouldn't stay around for long anyway. I headed straight for the marina and travelled back home.
