I need to try harder to fulfill Fediverse compliance requirements; CW: long (~3,000 characters in one post), meme, 4chan-greentext-style posting (with actual green text for many of those of you who are elsewhere than Mastodon), tech, a11y meta, alt-text meta, sensitivity meta, content warning meta, CW meta, mentions of long posts/alcohol/eye contact/selfie/romantics/suicide/Dieselpunk/late 1920s, abbreviated swearing

>be me
>obsessed with getting #AltText and #ImageDescriptions right to satisfy everyone
>on #Hubzilla
>no character limit for posts
>no character limit for alt-text
>decide to remake a post from 2022 with a picture without alt-text, but this time with an #ImageDescription
>picture was taken in a virtual world, nobody knows wtf it is and what all the stuff in the picture is
>lots of describing and explaining necessary
>if text exists within the frame of a picture, #transcription necessary
>20+ big and small bits of text within the frame of the picture
>TranscribeAllTheText.jpg
>text is too small in the pictures, can't read it
>log into #OpenSim
>go to where this building with almost everything in it is preserved
>spend three hours in-world, researching details and transcribing text
>actually transcribe tiny 5x3-pixel specks on which no text can even be seen, but there's text in-world
>can't transcribe big black sign because it wasn't preserved
>forced to non-compliance with image description standards
>still write an image description of almost 11,000 characters
>find in-world pictures on which the black sign is halfway readable
>transcribe the black sign from three pictures
>give the image description an overhaul
>13,000+ characters to describe and explain one image
>worth it
>use the image description to demonstrate four ways of adding #accessibility to that same old post
>not all actually add enough #a11y, if at all
>that's fully intentional
>three days later
>realise your image description isn't compliant after all
>you forgot to spell out abbreviations such as NPC
>you forgot to mention that it's a digital rendering
>you forgot to put up a #ContentWarning for the post being outrageously long, even though literally over 99% of it are image description
>you forgot to put up a content warning because there are two glasses of a strawberry cocktail in the image
>you forgot to put up a content warning because your avatar is looking in the general direction of the camera
>you forgot to put up a content warning because it's technically a selfie, even if the camera is hovering some five or six metres or so away from you
>you forgot to put up a content warning for that 5x11-pixel speck that's a rotating red heart which may trigger aromantics and heartbroken people
>you forgot to put up a content warning for the railing at the front which implies a certain height above the ground and may be a trigger for people who had to deal with suicide in some way
>you forgot to put up a content warning because the Dieselpunk-style architecture or the small bits of late 1920s aesthetics may offend or trigger someone
>you forgot to give the address of where the picture was taken
>wouldn't matter because that place doesn't exist anymore
>its shutdown was the very reason for the post back then
>but a copy of the building with almost everything inside still exists
>could have given that address instead
>still, it isn't the same place where the picture was taken
>dilemma
>turns out the Fediverse isn't ready for what you want to doAlso, when your #
CW is longer than other people's entire posts.
