its not true though. notebooks are the only reason we know what life during wartime is like. ann frank's being the most widely known. and in fact, when the shit hits the fan, it's the folk with notebooks who have the data we need in order to rebuild. the only reason you don't need a notebook is because there's plenty of folk around who know how to build, cook, farm, process fibers and do medicine. if they all died, - so would you ... UNLESS you had a notebook.

you seem to have missed the Satire in Byrnes Lyrics - which is weird considering his entire repertoire is built of satirical observations of societal ''norms'' this is a song about desperate attempted espionage by unprofessional and unskilled civvies- on a suicide mission.
