I've been looking for a simple, self-hosted alternative to pastebin, when I finally found in two days ago -
Stikked! It's very easy to install, easy to use and has got quite some interesting features:
- Syntax highlighting for a ton of languages, some rather esoteric ones :-)
- Optional content encryption
- Self-destructing content.
The last one if quite useful if you want to share login/passwords via a potential insecure channel (say mail, chat..): You create a password and paste it into stikked, with "burn on reading" and encryption set. Than send the link to the paste. If the rightful recipient clicks on the link he or she may read the credentials, everything went well. In this case you can activate the account or change the password, If the message has been intercepted, the recipient will get a 404 - paste not found, so he knows that someone read the message. In this case, just change the credentials and try again.
It's quite useful, it's not exactly something you need on a daily base, but occassionally you need to paste some code/configfile and share it with others. And it's self hosted :-) I've created a public instance:
https://paste.netzgemeinde.eu/ . Have fun!
