I've been to so many places in #
OpenSim already. London, Paris, the Scottish Orkneys, New England and so forth. Yesterday, I took a trip into the Catskills. And back in time.
My regular Friday event had to be cancelled due to severe technical issues, so I went to a Woodstock-themed event instead. It was entertaining, I also wore something appropriate as I always at least try to do. I'm not even sure how many of the partygoers expected actual music from the festival. Jimi Hendrix' rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" was enough to chase them away at the end. I guess they were too used to disco-fox.
So afterwards, I decided to visit the real deal. The #
Woodstock festival grounds on Yasgur's farm. Or rather a quite faithful rendition on #
WolfTerritoriesGrid, made by someone who had actually been to Woodstock back in 1969.
This is not just another hippie-themed party sim. For one, since this is on #
WolfTerritories, it's a 4x4 varsim, a whole square kilometre. And it has everything. The wooden stage. The trestles that carry the speakers and the lights. The wooden bridge to the "backstage" area across one of the roads. The clogged roads, of course, partly closed by the police. The small nearby forests. Wild camping grounds and litter everywhere. Some small forests around the venue. Not to mention Yasgur's farm itself, including a small barn where you can pick up boxes with contents that fit the setting.
If you have a few hours to spare, and you like walking around vast sims,
this may be something for you. If you prefer camming for five minutes or so and picking up freebies, it isn't. Not only can you only pick up what's meant to be picked up, namely the boxes at the farm, but the farm sits in the southwestern corner of the sim, so camming everywhere without walking probably won't even get you to the stage.
