There are (still) bugs when sending posts, comments, likes and they are more common with DMs. A side effect of this is that Delivery Reports are empty. The errors occur since the last versions (5.x to 6.0). @Mario Vavti, it also affects some DMs that I had sent you in the last weeks / months from different hubs.

Because of the very different entry points between posts, comments and likes (js, module ...) and because I am not (yet) familiar with the logic of the communication, I have difficulties to quickly determine the causes myself. For a long time I suspected that the problem exists specifically on my hubs. This is not the case and the phenomena seem to be more general. It would be important to know if other users beside @Mark Nowiasz have similar experiences.

You should be able to see something in the Hubzilla logs if things go wrong. I have not seen any issues so far...

Sure, but there is nothing in any logs on my hub. I had commented this post a few minutes ago from my hub and that comment is not to see.
At Mark's hub, I have no access to the logs and I will assume even nothing, because I viewed those on my hubs several times and even just now.

Are you using queueworker plugin? If so, do you have records in the workerq table?
Is there any Queueworker processes are running?

@Hilmar Runge You can also use hub.hubzilla.de for debugging - error logging is activated, php.out in hubzilla's directory. You also might want to activate hubzilla's log here - you're able to do so :-)

I also can enable logging on hub.netzgemeinde.eu, but since this hub is so large it would be difficult to filter out the interesting log entries..

@Hilmar Runge It's not systemd logging - Hubzilla uses a plain logfile in hubzilla's document root and php errors concerning hubzilla are logged into the file php.out (also in the documentroot of hubzilla)

At hub.hubzilla.de there are a lot Undefined variable and yet more Undefined array_key messages in the log. May be caused by using php8. And dbfail.out isn't there (have just touch one).

dbfail.out is the name for sql logging. For others, the name is free as to assign in adminUI

@neue medienordnung plus no, Hubzilla does not officially support PHP8 yet.It works quite well since most issues have been resolved but it still throws many warnings. This is due to the fact that PHP8 has become more strict in what it accepts...

If the file dbfail.out exists
AND
include/dba/dba_driver.php line#21
static public $logging = false;
is set to true, sql logging happens.
But should be set to false again right in time when not more needed.

Sending DM from my hub to Mark's,does not arrive, delivery report is empty. But main.js says:
"sse_bs_init is not defined"

(sse is off)

@Hilmar Runge this is because sse_bs_init() has been moved to the widget. If the widget is not there the function does not exist. This will need some more cleanup.

Anyway, this is unlikely to be related with the messages not being delivered...

Where to start troubleshooting in this case? There is an empty delivery report and based on the title it can be assumed that the amount is stored in Item. If there are already inconsistencies in the presentation of the delivery report, other clues are needed to find the error(s). How to continue?

@Hilmar Runge Hi Hilmar, did you have any success? I have the same trouble after updating to 6.0, but mostly when commenting or liking posts from the Diaspora network. But I'm not using PHP8 on my server.

No, no success. And the faults are not php8 related, that I still not use.

New in 6.0.1 is, two cases with msgs in delevery report tell "sender unknown", while a third has again no value in delivery report.

State from yesterday evening about the topic: Found a stupid mistake I made in my php cli cfg on the hub and now, everything looks well (cross fingers).
