@dansup @pixelfed I've tried to add my #Hubzilla channel to Fediverse.info and failed. So have others including @mike himself.

Steps to reproduce:

Make sure you've got ActivityPub on. (ActivityPub is optional on Hubzilla.)
Navigate to the directory.
Scroll down to How it works.
Add #fedi22 to the hashtags in your Hubzilla profile as required for the submission process.
Add some more hashtags in order for you to be found.
Click the submit link.
Enter your account address on the submission form.
Click Proceed.

Expected behaviour:
Fediverse.info processes your submission and confirms that.

Actual behaviour:
A red banner saying Server Error pops up on the submission form.

The Hubzilla Support Forum couldn't help me either, other than the Hubzilla creator himself saying that it's impossible.

@dansup Okay, looks like it's the channel address that has to be submitted.

However, Fediverse.info can't find my #fedi22 tag. That might be because it's looking for it in the channel description, but Hubzilla has a dedicated field for tags which Fediverse.info seems not to parse.

@Hubzilla Support Forum may be a place where people can help you with that.

@dansup I've experimented some more.

On Hubzilla, I've put fedi22 under Keywords (Hubzilla's field for keywords under which to find channels; these keywords are actually required to be entered without a # character) and #fedi22 under Short Description (Pdesc). Fediverse.info said it couldn't find #fedi22.

Possibility #1: Fediverse.info can't look past Pubcrawl (Hubzilla's ActivityPub plugin; Hubzilla uses Zot natively and requires a plugin for ActivityPub compatibility) into Hubzilla's inner workings.

Possibility #2: Fediverse.info has a fixed list of fields to search for the #fedi22 tag. This list contains all text fields provided by Mastodon, but not a single text field provided by Hubzilla or at least none where that tag would make sense. It certainly is not designed to look for a field named Keywords, much less accept keywords that aren't spelled out as hashtags with a leading #.

@jupiter_rowland did you by any chance also submit it without the hashtag once? It caches your profile for 15 min so just trying again after a bit fixed it for me..

@Tijs What did you enter where exactly? I'd like to try to reproduce your steps, and I can't look into any Hubzilla channel/profile of yours.

Only having non-hashtag fedi22 in the Keywords field doesn't work, so much I know now.

@Tijs Again, in which field exactly did you enter the hashtag?

The short description of your channel (under Basic)?

The "about you" field (under Miscellaneous)?

Or are you actually only talking about Mastodon and not about Hubzilla? And are you still unaware that I'm talking about Hubzilla which, while federated with Mastodon, is not a Mastodon instance, but an entirely different project?
