It seems to take one server crash to take out the entirety of Facebook, the entirety of Instagram, the entirety of Threads, the entirety of WhatsApp, and I wouldn't wonder if the entirety of Horizons was offline, too.

But it'd take two independent servers with independent owners going down to even only take this Hubzilla channel of mine out entirely.

I've personally got more redundancy than a world-spanning teracorporation. The hilarity.

@Jupiter Rowland people have simply commited their entire digital social life to a single company. And when you point them out that this is an issue, they don't care. The amount of online presence that Meta has is just enormous:

2.5 mainstream social networks (0.5 for Threads since it's not mainstream enough), the biggest 2 chat apps, one of which has a channel feature (similar to Telegram's), which is increasingly being used by mass media as a content distribution place.

It's already too big for the market!

@Cătă It's just hilarious that a corporation of such titanic dimensions that pretty much runs more than half the Internet has one common single point of failure for absolutely everything.
