My good deed for today: Fixed two broken layer clothes assets in #
OSgrid.
OSgrid's asset server isn't the most reliable one. Sometimes things simply disappear like textures or entire pieces of clothing. But this kind of asset breakage can be fixed by users if they know where these assets are still intact. Usually, that's the grid where they were made. Go there, put on what's broken elsewhere and see if it works. If it does, wear it when you go back to that elsewhere. keep it on for a while, then don't forget to take it off. If you want to wear it elsewhere, put it on again. That way, you can also check whether your fix has worked.
It may be useful to clear your viewer cache before doing that, by the way.
So I had two layer clothing items whose textures had turned to white. One was Moran DeMedici's opaque black tanga, therefore originally from #
CraftWorld. The other one was trickier, it was Sarah Kline's green grunge stockings. And these were originally made in OSgrid, right where they were broken. Worse yet, it looked like they recently broke in #
DorenasWorld, too.
Fixing the tanga was easy. I went to Craft-World, one of the shopping sims there, and put the tanga on. (Don't ask what I wore under my skirt when I arrived there.) It showed up correctly. Wonderful.
Just out of curiosity, I tried the broken stockings on. And what do you know, their texture worked in Craft-World, too! Craft-World certainly was old enough for someone to have taken these stockings there already, I guess.
I went back home, kept these two items on for a while and took them off. From what I can see, they're both okay now. I'll fix at least the stockings in Dorenas World next.
By the way, I've had to fix broken clothes in Craft-World before, and they were offered in boxes there, but they were rather obscure and only available on that one sim. I found out they were made in #
DestinyGrid, and they were still good there.
