reshare of old thread: Meta/Facebook/Threads.net federation

Now that (evidently) threads.net is actually accepting ActivityPub posts, it might be worth revisiting my predictions about how the Meta federation thing would play out. The predictions are from 2023, and not enough time has elapsed to evaluate most of these predictions, but they might be worth a look.
The good news is that---because of the push-based nature of ActivityPub federation---I don't think the data security issues that I brought up at the end of the thread will be relevant.
I did a sneaky thing where I made a public post and then the core of the thread was followers-only, so depending on how long you've been following that account, the posts might be hidden from you. If you're having trouble, let me know, and I'll see what I can do for you (unfortunately, the solution probably involves boosting the followers-only posts, and I apologize in advance for that).
I'm also not sure how that kind of maneuver interacts with Hubzilla's privacy model . C'est la guerre.
Edit: here's the link to the thread:
https://social.coop/@dynamic/110598380016611869 I'm going to go ahead and make a prediction about how the Meta / Facebook / Fediverse thing is going to play out.
Thoughts below in a followers-only thread. Feel free to boost this top post.
