Dr. Gerald D. Buckberg is a Professor of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, at the UCLA Medical Center. He received his Cardiothoracic training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and his research training at the Cardiovascular Institute at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a member of multiple surgical societies, including the American Association of Thoracic Surgery, American Surgical Association, and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

This presentation was given at the 81st Annual meeting of The American Association for Thoracic Surgery. The AATS is an international organization of over 1,300 of the world's foremost cardiothoracic surgeons representing 41 countries.
