Hubzilla Terminology and Onboarding

Hubzilla is a very powerful platform with a lot of features and new concepts. This leads to some new terminology that is often unique to Hubzilla and the Fediverse.

Think back to when you were a new user. What concepts needed better explaining? And how can we make the onboarding process better?

@dynamic_hubzilla Right now everything was built manually. We added a sitewide navigation bar using the page header addon, and then used the PDL editor and webpages feature to add menus and such. We also created a "member area" page which is linked to in the navbar.

The only problem is that it takes too long to built manually. If we are going to duplicate this on multiple sites, we would need to turn those into addons and widgets to reduce the setup time involved.

How different is the view for someone who has an actual account there? I'd be curious to poke around.

@dynamic_hubzilla Right now there is not much difference because we used menus from the webpages module and the page header addon to add the additional navigation. Neither of these allow you to change the navigation based on whether you are logged in or not.

The only page that changes is the Members Area page, which generates links unique to your channel when you are logged in, but is plain text when you are logged out. We used Hubzilla-specific BBCode to create that page.

If we create some widgets and addons, they could be made smarter and change based on who is logged in and what settings they have.
