There's a new alt-text generator app for iPhone that runs completely on device. I tried it with a few of images. From my experience it's better for just extracting text; it didn't describe the visuals very well. I am on an iPhone 13 so maybe the newer iPhones could generate better alt-text?
I have been occasionally using alttexty.org for complex text dense images eg comics, pictures of diagrams, backs of video game cases, etc, but I resent using it because it goes through Gemini. I'm hoping this new app can work well enough for me.
