Alright, one thing I am finding that is definitively lacking on #Hubzilla is moderation tools, which seems a pretty big oversight for a platform that puts so much effort into privacy and content control. I guess the idea is to allow it to all mainly be in the hands of the users.

I can still blacklist channels/accounts and hostname patterns, but there isn't a "Report to Admin" feature, or a way to read external reports. So hopefully, if someone for whatever reason joins this instance and is even more toxic than I am, any external admin who has a problem with it takes a minute to look me up and take it up with me rather than blocking WotW wholesale.

@Comrade Ferret It's one of the very ideas behind Hubzilla to empower its users to moderate their streams themselves. It has been for over a decade. And it's the same on Hubzilla's descendants.

Mastodon gives you "Mute", "Block" and "Call a mod". Hubzilla gives you shit-tons more control over your own stream than even Friendica.

You can use the optional per-contact filters to keep certain contacts from sending you certain stuff, based on keywords. You can use permission controls to keep certain contacts from sending you any posts while still letting them send you comments and DMs. Or you can use permission controls to keep them from sending you posts and DMs. And so forth.

So instead of wondering from the point of view of an admin who has never even used Hubzilla why Hubzilla is the way it is, I recommend you to daily-drive Hubzilla for at least half a year and join the @Hubzilla Support Forum. This will really show how Hubzilla is pretty much the exact opposite of Mastodon in the Fediverse. Keep registrations closed on your hub until you've really grokked Hubzilla.
