this is a traditional song in Scots Gaelic.
The song describes returning home to the braes of Loch Eil (the title).
You could interpret return, like other similar traditional songs, as meaning burial.
It was sung at a friend's funeral not so long ago by the daughter of the woman (a well known Scottish singer) singing here.

How about this one? It's in Cabo Verde Creole. It makes me think of one of my great-grandmothers (Portuguese speaking; of mixed-race Brazilian ancestry; her father emigrated to Australia in the 19th century). My grandfather wouldn't speak Portuguese - so he could 'fit in' with the Anglos.

Does it count if it's primarily another language but still has some english lyrics?
In either case I'd go with South African artist Heavy-K. this one's my favorite and I believe the lyrics are Xhosa besides the english parts. I so badly want to sing along but damn is that not easy!

Our son (at 14) had a radio show on a local station that shared international music. Everything from Mongolia to Senegal to Peru. It was wonderful and it never occurred to us that others required their own language to appreciate music. Our son is now close to graduating with an Honours degree in music and collaborates with artists across the world. I know who is missing out in this debate and it isn't folks like him.
