Hubzilla can be used not only for posting in the fediverse, but also for sorting and archiving all kinds of texts with the articles, cards, and wiki app.
For a long time, I have been looking for a good way to copy texts found on the web into the Hubzilla CMS system with just one click.
Recently, I found a great working solution for this:
bookmarkletsA bookmarklet is a bookmark stored in a web browser that contains JavaScript commands that add new features to the browser. When clicked, bookmarklets can perform a wide variety of operations, such as running a search query from selected text or extracting text elements from a webpage.
For years, a bookmarklet has been circulating among Hubzilla users that allows you to copy the title and URL of a website into Hubzilla's bookmark app. This gave me the idea that it should also be possible to do this with entire texts. So I searched the web a little and found some code that I could rewrite so that the new code would work well also with a Hubzilla channel.
With these new bookmarklets code, you can now import selected text or even an entire web article into the various Hubzilla apps for further editing with just one click.
Here you can see how it works:
If you like you can also create such bookmarklets for your channel too. I have created a new HZ forum channel specifically for this purpose:
