Well this is very irritating as I shared a number of Google spreadsheets over the years with view-only links for my comparisons I did. I also shared a number of old family videos (one which Google repeatedly kept flagging for some violation) as unlisted. Sharing as Private means the viewer needed to log in with a Google account, which not all of my family use.
Luckily for the change to videos, we did have an option to opt out of the change and the links will continue to work. Of course, if you did not see the mail and did nothing, your videos change to Private.
Yes it's my own fault I suppose as I had actually moved all my 12.5 GB of photos to my own self-hosted service precisely, so I would not be affected by changing cloud service provider whims. Videos though, take up a massive amount of hosting space, as well as bandwidth for viewing...
