Terminated my accounts at Meta's Instagram and Threads...

Now working on helping my community set up a possible alternative to our very useful Facebook group. Leaning toward WordPress/BuddyPress but open to (serious) suggestions.

@lightweight @dangillmor +1 for discourse too! I've been hosting a rather large open source community on https://blenderartists.org/ (@blenderartists) and it's been fantastic. It's a bit technical to maintain - if that's not your thing you may want to get a hosted plan. On Discourse.org those can be pricey, but cheaper alternatives exist. I've used https://www.communiteq.com/ in the past and they're excellent.

Move everyone to somewhere in the Fediverse and set up a public group/forum on Friendica, Hubzilla or (streams).

This is the closest to Facebook you can get.
Move everyone to the Threadiverse (Lemmy, Mbin, PieFed) and set up a public Lemmy community, Mbin magazine or PieFed community.
This is more like Reddit.

A Friendica group, a Hubzilla forum or a (streams) group can also include an event calendar. But hardly any places in the Fediverse other than Friendica, Hubzilla and (streams) support events; Mastodon doesn't.
