With #Mastodon 4.6, is there any way to see the #AltText for avatars & banners on the web? I can inspect the elements in the desktop browser & see the alt fields on the img tags. I suppose screen readers use those fields for #accessibility. Otherwise, I can only see the alt text on my own profile by going to edit the images.

@Darth Hideout 🏳️‍🌈 In the absence of an "alt" button, have you tried the old-school way that still works everywhere outside of Mastodon, namely hovering your mouse cursor over the image?

Besides, the vast majority of Fediverse actors simply don't have alt-texts under their profile images. And many of them probably never will. So there might simply not be any alt-text in the first place.
