We have a paradox here: many people using microblogging via Mastodon want journalists and institutions to leave X and participate in healthier, decentralized spaces. At the same time, I see some newcomers facing unusually demanding purity tests, without much space to experiment, make mistakes, or simply do things differently.
That can definitely undermine the goal of creating a network that is more socially and professionally diverse.
