# Friendica mention notification bug report

Friendica SupportSmall heads-up in case someone wants to take a look at this.
I found a reproducible issue with mention notifications on Friendica 2026.05. Explicit mentions are delivered correctly and appear in the timeline, but no mention notification is generated.
I can reproduce this with both:
- Mastodon → Friendica
- Friendica → Friendica
## Environment
Friendica: `2026.05`
Installation: Docker Compose
Mention notifications are enabled for the affected local account.
Relevant settings:

Other notification types are working normally on the same account.
## Reproduction 1: Mastodon → Friendica
Original Mastodon post:

https://social.no707.space/display/52acf9cd-08a289bbc4ced24b-f30fa883The ActivityPub object from Mastodon contains the Friendica account correctly both as a recipient and as an explicit Mention:

Friendica receives the post correctly.
The stored body also contains the mention:

The post is assigned to the local user, but:

notification-type = 0
```
and no corresponding row is created in:
```text
post-user-notification
```
The post itself appears normally in the timeline.
## Reproduction 2: Friendica → Friendica
I also reproduced the same behavior with a direct Friendica-to-Friendica mention:
https://social.no707.space/display/233c35cd-996a-be9e-77de-fd3919669537Again, the post is received normally and appears in the mentioned user's timeline.
For the mentioned local user:

```
and again no corresponding entry is created in:

post-user-notification
```
So the behavior does not seem to be specific to Mastodon federation.
## Other notifications work
The general notification system itself appears to be working.
Recent `post-user-notification` entries exist for other notification types on the same account, including entries created on the same day as the failed mention tests.
Observed notification types include:

```
This suggests that the general notification/worker system is functioning, while explicit mentions are not being classified as notifications.
## Expected behavior
When a local user is explicitly mentioned:
1. the post should appear in their timeline
2. a mention notification should be generated
## Actual behavior
The post appears normally in the timeline, but:

notification-type = 0
```
and no corresponding row is created in:
```text
post-user-notification
```
This is reproducible with both Mastodon → Friendica and Friendica → Friendica mentions.
Just leaving the details here in case they are useful for someone investigating the issue or turning it into a proper bug report. I hope this helps.
