I wish there was a Fediverse platform for music #scrobbler. Something similar to last.fm but OpenSource and supporting #ActivityPub. There is libre.fm, but despite being active, I cannot find their source code and I believe they are a centralized platform.

It would be great if we can also self-host our music history and be able to share it.

There is multi-scrobbler under MIT license that can be a nice place to start:

Pretty sure Libre.fm uses GNU-FM (https://github.com/libre-fm). I looked into hosting one myself a couple of years back.

@Mehrad The original libre.fm was based on gnu.fm. Gnu.fm can be self hosted and @lonestar does run his own instance. Unfortunately it’s not federated.

there are quite a few self-hostable solutions, and at least two of them are Bluesky-ready, but I failed to find one that supports ActivityPub so that we can use it on Mastodon.

@Hirad @Mehrad :kde: :emacs: :rstats: Which is curious, seeing as the GNU FM developer also started GNU social and scooped up StatusNet's abandoned code to merge it into GNU social. The idea was to use GNU social in some way to make GNU FM federate.

GNU social even implemented ActivityPub at some point, but GNU FM never did. Now GNU social is dead anyway.
