the feeback i've received: people do not seem interested in sharing their info in OS on the WWW, but I have an idea to make that part mostly painless.
also the cryptocurrency economy system works but again people seem reluctant or disinterested.

I'd check it, but the OCSP server throws an error message, and my browser refuses to open it.

This could be because the vast majority of OpenSim users doesn't even expect the existence of social media that are as free and decentralised as OpenSim, ironically. For them, social media equal American corporate silos that want to sell your data.

also the cryptocurrency economy system works but again people seem reluctant or disinterested.

In this case, I know the reasons.

First of all, most OpenSim users by far don't want to invest any money into OpenSim beyond either land rentals or server costs. They don't want to take money into the world.

Besides, there have been so many attempts at scamming in OpenSim that people have gotten very careful.

If it's about gambling with money that can be bought with real-life money, they're double careful. Most OpenSim users are also Second Life users, and they know the history of gambling in Second Life, namely that it was outlawed. If someone comes and offers gambling with money that can be bought with real-life money in OpenSim, they tend to question the legality.

And lastly, cryptocurrencies remind them of those many "blockchain + cryptocurrency + buy land deeds as NFTs" "Metaverse" cash grabs set up by cryptobros around 2022, of which notoriously buggy Decentraland is probably the most infamous.

cryptocurrency on OpenSIM is not so important.. the idea was a currency system that didn't have corporate control.. but gloebits are ok enough i guess, just not decentralized. i know of people who trade gloebits for fiat, but i'm not sure that is lucrative. AFAIK most people use it for "tips", some accept it for rents on sims, and i know of one person, the sound effects person, who sells their items for gloebits.

anyway cryptocurrency, in my opinion, is not "gambling", however it's true some people do tend to do foolish things be it cryptocurrency, stocks (Enron comes to mind), or get-rich quick schemes.

OCSP seems to work now and is cached until November 5, but any day it seems let's encrypt is doing away with OCSP. (i did see 'no response' as you indicated)

There are lots of people selling their creations for Gloebits. You should have attended OpenSimFest, there were several traders present with their own shops in which they sold items for Gloebits, the only currency available on the OpenSimFest grid. That is, the grid and the shops are still there until tomorrow.

Right now, the Gloebit seems to be reliable; there haven't been any dropouts recently.

When I talked about gambling, I didn't mean crypto gambling specifically. I generally meant gambling for money that can be traded for fiat money. Something that was big in early Second Life before Linden Lab noticed that people did something technically illegal and banned it.

This usually comes from somewhere in East Asia where I guess not only online gambling is legal, but an OpenSim grid can even have its own tradeable currency without being licensed as a bank, so it doesn't depend on the Gloebit's willingness to cooperate. But I think I also remember attempts at this from Italy.

I wanted to go to OpenSimFest I just got a bit busy this time.

I can't imagine the gambling in SL would be a good experience, even if the parcel/sim owner was straight it's hard to know who is pulling the strings on the server. And also since the communication is http/xml it's easy for a user to manipulate things in a way that's not apparent in the viewer I think. The idea with cryptocurrency as economy was the keystore is off-grid, anyone can participate without permission. But anyway, it's not so important to have.

I now have account sync between Hubzilla and OpenSim, messages and photos coming from OpenSim to Hubzilla. Next up is having messages and photos coming from Hubzilla to OpenSim.
