Humble is a business. It doesn't belong to Doctorow.

The Humble Bundle still might be a good deal for Doctorow, but I doubt it's as good a deal for him as buying his books from him.

Doctorow really has to work hard to make a living just on his writing. It's not just the work of writing; it's also constantly touring, promoting his work. Most "best selling" authors have another source of income. I always laugh at TV shows (Castle was an example, the employer of Magnum PI is another) where writers not only survive only on their writing, but are fabulously wealthy.
