I think you have to change the backup account to primary for the other hubs to figure out where to look for your content.

(And, whatever: nomadic identities should not requiere to switch every time a primary goes down. Especially since you don't get warning to do this... If you need an operation to switch primary, it's not nomadic identity, it's migration, like #Mastodon's or #Diaspora's ones)

I suppose. I guess a more precise answer is that your primary is down long enough where other hubs think it is dead.

It's not in your side
And you can partialy do it throught his channel, so no technical reason to not display the post in our instance.

How is it set up now? Let's say my hub wants to communicate with a channel on a hub that is down. How does my hub know which hubs contain a backup of that channel? Is that stored in my hub's database somewhere?

How do backup hubs know not to send duplicate messages? Or is the receiving hub able to detect duplicate messages from clones, so it does not matter if both the primary and the clone send the same message?

Sure, you can go to their clone and interact there, but how would you know where these clones are?

@Malendur Thanks for answering that. From what I understand, most other platforms use aliases as alternative identifiers pointing to the same instance, rather than clones (since they don't have clones). I am guessing, since Hubzilla allows clones, it would also be smart enough to detect when an alias is on a different hub.
