A Name for a New Philosophy

Based on what I am reading on social media, a lot of people do not understand the definition of "capitalism" and think that corporatism and crony capitalism is capitalism. It is not.

I am thinking that perhaps we need to come up with a new term that refers to "the freedom to contribute to society how you see fit and to get compensated or rewarded for that contribution" and that talks about how to structure society so that people can choose to be independent. Such a philosophy would be against concentration of power, but would be supportive of small businesses, cooperatives, public benefit corporations, and non-profits.

How do you want to stop power from concentrating in a system where those more able or more lucky are able to accumulate their compensations while others with less compensations won't accumulate as much?

The only way to do so is to level the playing field so that everyone can play. We would also need to change the power dynamic between large corporations and individuals so that individuals have more power. This would require a top down approach, as well as a bottom up approach.

Some of the things that would need to be addressed at the top level is:

Enforce anti-trust laws to prevent monopolies and cartels.
Pass small-business and cooperative friendly legislation.
Make it illegal for big government to use big business as an extension of itself, especially if it bypasses constitutional and human rights protections.
Require warrants and disclosure when the government requests information from or cooperation with a private entity.
Convince important leaders that the success of the masses ensures their success too. People can't buy their stuff if they're broke.

Some of the things that can be addressed at the bottom include:

Free or low cost educational resources related to managing money.
Free or low cost educational resources related to starting your own business, public benefit corporation, cooperative, or non-profit.
Help people obtain high value marketable skills that align with their personality and desired lifestyle, which can be used at a job, in their own business, or a non-profit endeavor.
Provide open source tools that would allow artists, creators, and small businesses to compete with the big players.
Decentralize social platforms so that people have a choice of providers or can host their own.
Make it easier to support independent artists, creators, and those who engage in service to the community, by providing decentralized tools where they can build an audience and receive money for their contributions.
Provide a safety net for those who are unable to work, with the goal of helping them get back on their feet, and taking care of those who are physically and mentally unable to work. Provide this safety net without concentrating power.

Some additional things can be done in the middle, such as:

Create non-profits, cooperatives, associations, and public benefit corporations for key aspects of life, such as health, wealth, and education.
Ensure that there is competition and that people have choices.
Give people better structures for managing their money, that gives them more control and keeps the money in their hands.

With current technology, we have the opportunity to create software, products, services, and infrastructure that fundamentally changes the power dynamics between corporations and the people.

If small businesses can compete with big players, it makes it harder for a big player to stay entrenched. If individuals have more options and more skills, corporations would have to compete for their attention and can't underpay them. After all, if someone can start their own business can make 10 times as much, the corporations would have to have a compelling employment offer.

And this is just some of the stuff off of the top of my head.

But what it comes down to is that currently the power is in the hands of the government and big business. We have to change that dynamic so that the power is back in the hands of the individuals. That is the only way to ensure that people even have the option to pursue a life they love.
