Hubzilla replies to Mastodon boots of Mastodon replies to Mastodon toots don't federate
Okay, this is going to be complicated.
Let's suppose we have a #
Mastodon #
toot (1) like
this one.
Let's suppose there's a reply to this toot
(2), also on Mastodon, like
this one.
Let's suppose a third Mastodon user boosts this toot. Scroll down
here.
Let's suppose I've received this boost on #
Hubzilla (3), namely
here.
Now let's suppose I want to reply to the reply
(2), and I want both the author of the original post and the reply to see it.
All I can reply to, however, is the boost of the reply
(3) because that's all I see. Since it's all I see, Hubzilla shows it to me as an original post with no reply button, not as a comment that would have a reply button.
So I manually enter the authors of both the original post
(1) and the reply
(2), I write my reply which you can read
here.
However, this reply never ends up on Mastodon. Neither the author of the original post
(1) nor the author of the reply
(2) sees it in their timelines.
Searching for the reply
(2) in order to directly reply to it doesn't work either; all that Hubzilla shows me and all that I can reply to is the boost
(3).
In fact, no reply to any post in the thread seems to be federated to Mastodon. Hubzilla's search can't find the original post
(1), the first reply
(2) is shown as its boost
(3), and all replies to it are shown as replies to the boost
(3).
