Documentation on Hubzilla apps?

A bit ago, I posted to the Hubzilla Support Forum with a request for help using the Sources app on Hubzilla. I'm not sure how many people saw the post, but there haven't been any responses.

This morning I took another shot at finding information about the app, and I'm having a really hard time finding any documentation on *any* of the Hubzilla apps.

Can someone tell me where to look for this kind of information?

Afaik, there's no real documentation for any of the official (or other) apps. And not really a good place to put that documentation even.

That's something we should fix, but for now I'm happy to help deciphering it if you can point me to the source of the addon in question. I can't find Sources in the official addon repo.

I can see your comment on my Network Stream, but not on the Hubzilla Support Forum. On the other hand, comments *I* posted on this post via the Hubzilla Support Forum are visible there, but not here.

Then I tried to set up a direct message with you, but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Then I thought I'd post screenshots to the Hubzilla Support Forum, but it looks like images need to be in an album, but the album I created doesn't pop up as an option when I try to post the images.

Feeling frustrated.

I am feeling very confused about a bunch of aspects of the Hubzilla interface.

I think that's quite common, at least to begin with. I think there's plenty of room for improvement, but I'm not much of a web designer myself.

As for the forum issues, I've had problems with this forum myself at times. It works fine now, but there has been times when I need to visit the forum on the hub it's hosted to be able to respond or read comments.

The easy way: Just start a message by typing @! followed by my name. (No spaces.) I should hopefully be listed in the popup.

More involved way, click the padlock icon next to the submit button when composing a message, choose custom selection and only select allow for the person(s) you want to receive the message.

You can upload directly by clicking the paperclip icon in the toolbar below the message body input field. That will upload an image directly to the default album, and attach it to the message.

You can move the image later, if you want it in a different album.

I don't see a paperclip icon. Writing this, I see boldface, italics, underline, quote, code, and insert link.

When I start a new post on the Hubzilla Support Forum, I see boldface, italics, underline, quote, code, insert web link, embed (existing) photo from your photo albums, set your location, set expiration date, and toggle poll. (I wish I could post a screenshot to show what I'm seeing, but...)

I have attempted to view recent posts on the the Hubzilla Support Forum, both via my own instance and by opening the link https://zotadel.net/channel/support in a private browser window. In neither case is our current conversation visible. I don't know if you're in a position to provide it, but it would help to have perspective on *why* things are showing up this way.

Only for top level afik. The way Hubzilla federates comments is to send them to the thread starter who then distributes them back to the original audience of the post.

Not sure why you're not seeing the paperclip icon, perhaps check with the admin of your hub?

When you visit the forum on it's original hub, don't do it from a private window. It will break the remote authentication feature so the remote hub will not know that you're a member of the forum.

Thanks. I only tried the private window because you mentioned that I might need to go to the original hub. As far as I can tell, this entire conversation is completely invisible on the hub itself.

I've seen other people mention that messages takes a long time to be delivered, so it may perhaps show up some day. More debugging is needed...

@K&T Host @dynamic_backups Yeah, I'm seeing the same with my comments here. I think what has happened is that the forum has been cloned to it's new home on adminsforum@hubzilla.org, but something is wrong with the sync between the two.

@Ema エマ Is that correct? Do we need to reconnect to that address? Or is it just Zotadel having problems?

As far as I know, it's zotadel having performance problems. That's one of the reasons why we cloned the channel to adminsforum@hubzilla.org.

We wanted to wait some months before setting adminsforum@hubzilla.org as primary clone, to avoid certain issues that could arise. 2 months have passed since, so I set adminsforum@hubzilla.org as primary clone just now.

I hope, with this, we don't encounter the observed behaviour anymore. Please tell if otherwise.
