I think the main reason everyone’s asking about vanilla matters with Muraganda is that they’re worried about how Muraganda would feel without something to make it stand out and not just feel like another Ixalan/Ikoria. I have faith that if we ever visited Muraganda it would be fleshed out to include more and feel unique but between vanilla creatures (and I think relatedly Core Sets) being cycled out and Muraganda Petroglyphs I think it’s a yearning for a nostalgia hit of simpler magic.

If we ever make Muraganda, we’ll give it a mechanical identity. It’s what we do.

I don’t think the current “vanilla matters” theme on this blog is caused by a desire for premier sets to have more vanilla creatures.

I think it’s more about this unattainable idea that’s exciting in concept.

Okay, I’m gonna need an explanation about the change of standard rotation. What’s the reasoning behind it ? I can’t honestly see how this will help revitalize standard. People are asking for MORE rotation and you deliver the exact opposite. Why ? I was already not wanting to play standard until rotation because it is boring to play against the exact same cards over and over again since a year and a half but now rotation is more than a year away. Might as well stop standard altogether now.

The actual printing sheet is the same size as any sheet. How many cards are in it is based on the needs of the set (with the upper bounds being the limitation of the physical sheet).

It’s significantly stronger. Naming creature, for example, gets every creature type.

Omenpaths all work differently. Some are more stable, some are temporary. Some are large, some are tiny. I suppose some could be one-way. Also, there aren’t a lot of them on any one world.

“We did something similar in Eldritch Moon (Werewolf on front and mutated version on back) and it didn’t go over well.” They were a bit awkward to play with Immerwolf, but still surprised to hear they weren’t popular. Was it just the synergies, or some other issue?

The market research more measure what they think than why. My best guess is that Werewolves had a tight mechanical identity and these didn’t fit with it.

In Urza’s Saga, each of the colors had a different main setting, and they spanned multiple planes - Serra’s Realm for white, Phyrexia for black, and Dominaria for blue, red, and green (Tolaria, Shiv, and Argoth, respectively). With the addition of omenpaths, could we see something like this again? Would that mean a possibility for planes like Mercadia or Ulgrotha to be featured in a premier set once more?
