All I will say is there's two Epilogue chapters next week that may answer your questions that the main story didn't.

Although I will say, Ashiok is real, and if they showed up on a card with the type Ashiok, that was them.

Okay, as the spoilers are flooding the social media space, I'll answer this one.

Annie's illusion thing isn't always on, she needs to use it. If she's not expecting an illusion, she has no reason to check. All that said, this is also a scenario where if someone like Annie could see through it in the handful of times she saw Ashiok, "Ashiok" could have edited her memory of those events.

Here’s some constructive criticism on the stories: I think it’s kinda dull that a lot of planeswalker cards can make tokens, but we never see that happening in the stories. It would have been cool to see the Wanderer conjuring Samurai to fight for her, for example, or Oko summoning an Elk in one of the many situations in the recent history in which that would have been useful. As is, the planeswalkers feel too much like normal characters. (Elspeth even had to fistfight back in New Capenna!)
