Thoughts on removing the cat type from the rakshasa creatures?A+++ Now we can have actual Rakshasa
Rakshasa “cat demons” were a holdover from D&D’s Rakshasa, which were based on a half-remembered episode of Kolchack in the 70s, namely this idiot:

Yes, but does it actually serve any purpose by removing the Cat type? Why can't MTG and D&D have unique creatures? They're fantasy games.
If Magic only had six angels, and they were all turtles with two heads, no wings or halos, most people would probably disagree that they were, in fact, angels, yeah? People already have so many opinions on the angels in Magic. It’s one thing to do some variety, it’s another to just, flat out not be the thing.
So whats the benefit of angels having wings and halos. They could just be Leonin. Let them be unique.
Rakshasa are very cool looking demons without the silly cat stuff from a midwestern conservative Christian who half remembered an episode of 70s TV.
Cat demons can still exist. This isn’t changing Jetmir. It’s just making space for something not completely unrelated.
