I may have already posted this, but a good metric to consider with an organization I've been thinking about lately is, "how fucked would you be if the person in charge suddenly became a full on Nazi?"
With a
#centralized Network like
#BlueSky, where you can't just pick up and go somewhere else, you are absolutely fucked. Everything you have work to build on that network is now part of a Nazi Network, whose systems are run by Nazis for the Nazi effort. This is what happened on
#Twitter: the company was bought by a Nazi who made it a Nazi propaganda mill.
With a
#decentralized network like
#Fediverse, you don't have that problem.
Even if Eugen Rochko randomly decided that, instead of photos, he was into bringing back the Third Reich, and that
#Mastodon would now be software explicitly for pushing the white supremacist agenda, we would just move on and let the forks pick up where he'd left off.
Even if the
#ActivityPub team became a White Semen Cult of some kind, the protocol is public: we'd be fine.
