I don't believe the #
fediverse is a replacement for private social networks.
I really discourage this narrative. As a matter of fact it is for that reason that we still use idiot terminologies such as
follower/following.It is a bad habit we can't get rid off because the majority still believe/want the Fediverse to be a replacement, they perhaps dream to get the best of the two worlds.
Forget about it, it won't happen and we had better to not insist, otherwise we continue to reinforce wrong models.
I have been repeating for years that we should stop using
follow and start using
connect instead.
I don't follow anybody, I don't really care; but I do love connect with other people. If you like being followed go outside with your pet.
I do believe the Fediverse is a space to share and connect, surely an alternative for the ones that are looking for something else.
Don't ask people to get here because it is a replacement, it is a lie and you're lying to yourself as well.
Don't mix up people, let the people stay where they feel more comfortable, even though is a nasty place, mind your business it is going to be better for each and ever one of us.
And if you want make this a commercial alternative I don't trust you, ever.
