Let's hope these rumours are true, and that Putin will soon be on the way out.

Rumours are swirling in Moscow that a number of former generals and KGB officials are preparing to oust Russia’s president Vladimir Putin and plan to end the war in Ukraine, which is increasingly seen across Russia as a strategic mistake and, above all, an economic disaster.

One of the major things about the news in western media about Russia is that most of them are coming from CIA or Pentagon, so I wouldn't pay much attention to such stories from unknown sources.

If these guys were really planning to do it, they would not talk to western reporters about their plans, they are not idiots.

Or maybe CIA wants to play the same card Hitler played against Stalin and spread the roomer that some of his generals were planning to kill him that led to Stalin killing most of his top military leading to his massive defeat at the first phase of the invasion!

Putin has been acting as stupid as Stalin in so many ways that it may even work!

If true, it seems Putin was not paranoid, just plain crazy ;-P Lets hope this happens before they pull the trigger to a nuke over a big city, as that is what Putin clearly is gearing up to :-S

i doubt that this will happen. putin came to power through control of the kgb successor organisation. and we saw how quickly undesired persons die in russia. so even being mentioned in such rumors might be lethal ....

It's a rumour, of course, and there's no way of knowing how much truth is in it. I'm sure we will only know of a coup once it has started, but I can imagine not everybody in Russia is very happy with Vlad at the moment. And all it takes is a small group of people with access to Putin to do what has to be done.

The big question remains: what comes after Putin. Will it be just another tyrant, or will Russia finally develop into a free country?

Those are not the people with "access" to him, those are just the people he wants to feel uncomfortable ;-)

What I mean is a few high ranking FSB officers, a general or his cook.

Ill bet he has people 'taste' stuff first for him like the kings of days past.. He is paranoid enough, and with all the knowledge of how to poison folks, i doubt he takes any risk at all.
