#SecondLife It was much, much harder.
Meshbody Classic has a free male mesh body.

I went to Alli & Ali for hair. They give you a free hair (one color only) for each style. Most of them are modifiable, so you CAN change the texture color.
Still looking for a free head, and will report back.
