@ben I would say it's important to fix identity so that social addresses aren't tied to a server. This is superficially implemented on Mastodon using Webfinger, but a person's server-independent id needs to be how they are referred by other users, everywhere. So later binding, rather than early binding of the id to the activitypub address. Bluesky has done some work on this, but I suspect it's not the endgame.
