@atomicpoet @fediversenews This is just the consequence of borrowing so much UI design from Twitter. The behavior you describe is super common there, and to them it's a feature. No context and oblique replies mid-thread drive engagement and drama. If Mastodon wants a different dynamic than Twitter, then the product needs to diverge.
