I stopped my little experiment with Debian for now... I'll be back. Someone on reddit politely suggested I try to install Debian in a smaller partition. I think I'll do that, my PC has 2 SSDs, and one has plenty of space for such a slice.
Reinstalled a backup of Ubuntu Studio onto the main SSD.
