Notification symbol in the navbar doesn't work
When the viewport for Hubzilla is too narrow for the three-pane view for some reason, the notification area in the right pane is automatically replaced with an icon in the navbar. But it seems like this icon doesn't even work. Neither does it notify me of things the notification area does such as mentions or new comments in followed conversations, nor does it list unread messages.
This is especially inconvenient for mobile users.
Steps to reproduce:
Pull the browser in which you use Hubzilla gradually narrower until the right pane disappears. You may reload the page occasionally to make this happen.
The notification icon should appear in the navbar, but as an inactive icon.
Then use Hubzilla as usual or simply leave it sitting for a few hours so that new messages can come in.
Expected and desired result:
The notification icon will go from inactive to active. It will show you both unread messages and notifications.
Actual result:
The notification icon remains inactive indefinitely. It does not show you unread messages or notifications.
