So I tried to find out where they originally came from. This wasn't exactly easy because none of them still bear their original creator entry.

Something told me to pay Littlefield Mall a visit, also because that's one place I hadn't checked in a while that only offers legal content. I knew that the creator of some of these boots is Ada Wong, and I should have figured from that that she might have more than that one beachwear store on Coney Island.

Now, one thing is particular at least about Littlefield Mall, maybe even also about the three adjacent shopping sims: The contents offered in the stores can only be acquired by Littlefield Grid residents. Hypergridders shouldn't even be able to pick anything up, much less take it with them.

That's because Littlefield Grid has special agreements with Second Life creators to distribute their creations. But while some Second Life creators only demand their creations be offered no-transfer, maybe also only to members of a hard-to-join group, those who supplied Littlefield Grid only did so under the condition that only grid residents can have their creations.

As it turned out, Ada Wong does have a store at Littlefield Mall. And she has scripts in all her sales boxes which not only provide the only way of acquiring the contents of the boxes, but which also only give these contents to grid residents and inform Hypergridders only even looking at the box contents that they're Littlefield exclusives.

This means that while the layer swimwear I got from Ada's shop on Coney Island is legal, her unrigged mesh boots and skates in my inventory are not. Apparently, someone has copybotted them from Littlefield Mall. And apparently, hardly anyone knows about this limitation because at least one female starter avatar box offered at Lbsa Plaza, OSgrid's official welcome and landing sim that's also to guide and supply newbies, contains a pair of Ada Wong boots. Maybe I'll notify whoever made these boxes. I mean, it isn't like Lbsa Plaza offers the usual copybotted Second Life content otherwise; OSgrid officially has a strict anti-content theft policy.

Anyway, there were still four pairs of boots whose creator I hadn't been able to track down until that visit. I actually suspected them to have been stolen from Second Life in pre-mesh times. What I didn't know was something I should have known if I spent more time on Littlefield Grid, especially outside Ruritania: They come from Camryn Darkstone, the wife of the Littlefield grid owner Walter Balazic. She has contributed to Littlefield Mall herself, and she has two stores there plus a few boxes at the market square.

These four pairs of boots, however, were absent not only from Littlefield Mall, but from the three neighbouring sims as well. I couldn't figure out whether I was allowed to have these boots. So I sent Camryn a message. Now I'm waiting for a reply.

As for Ada's stuff, I think I'll remove it from my inventory. I might stash it away in boxes first, just in case, also because the one shop at Astralia Shopping City that used to offer her ankle boots has since been removed and replaced with a new building that only offers outfits stolen straight from Second Life. That means that Ada's store at Littlefield Mall has become the only remaining source for at least some of the variants.

It's a pity, though, because legal boots of these kinds are hard to find in OpenSim. Aaack Aardvark offers rigged mesh ankle boots at his Arcadia Store, but their style doesn't fit all kinds of outfits. Albeit in different ways, the same goes for the few pairs of ankle boots which the grandmistress of footwear, Taarna Welles. She has made knee-high boots as well, in ten colours even, but even though the soles are easy on the ground, sometimes you want stilettos.

There's also a footwear shop at Needful Things which resides on Pangea now, and that shop offers several kinds of boots that I haven't seen anywhere else. However, Needful Things doesn't only offer legal content, I can't figure out who created these boots, and that self-same footwear shop does offer boxes that clearly come from Second Life, and that are all over the Hypergrid.

Oh well, maybe Maxine will turn out to be a good mesh body with a good dev kit that'll spawn a lot of creativity. After all, we might need a whole lot of new clothes. And even though new pumps and sandals will be more urgent because boots are fairly universal, maybe some new rigged mesh boots will come along. Preferably also with medium-height heels.

In the meantime, I could finally try to make me an alpha mask for Snik Snoodle's ankle boots.

#OpenSim #OpenSimulator #Metaverse #VirtualWorlds #LittlefieldGrid #VirtualClothing #VirtualFashionX-ZOT:https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/item/be2d5b45-5062-4e8d-945a-e2f418136cb22024-01-29T12:53:48Z2024-01-29T12:53:48Zhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/posthttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno Rowlandhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno RowlandSome good news: I found out that Camryn Darkstone actually made the boots bearing her name. And I'm not even talking about coming to an afternoon DJ event and being the only woman there wearing a skirt. All the others wore jeans, at least those who were dressed appropriately to walk out of the club again.

Much later, I decided to check out the sims surrounding the ocean surrounding Lbsa Plaza. Not only are they accessible to the public, but there's actually a boardwalk along the Lbsa Moat as the 5x5-region ocean is called. As I was already there, I decided to wander along the whole boardwalk.

On the other side of the moat, I had to not only pass an active and erupting volcano but also jump a small lava stream. I had to take my beloved loden costume to the dry-cleaner to get rid of the stench of smoke and sulphur. At least it stayed undamaged.

And I also found that there was no boardwalk on four of the last five sims. Actually, getting off the boardwalk where it ended without falling into the water was difficult. But I made it.

Maybe I'll come back and do what others had already done, namely jog the whole boardwalk.

Finally, I paid Lbsa Plaza a visit. The lion's den, some say. It wasn't bad, though.

A guy chatted me up because he was looking for a good-looking female avatar. He talked me up instead of one of the many Athenas aiming for maximum sexiness. It was one thing that he implied I was looking good. It was another that he believed that what I wore was a complete avatar available somewhere in a box, body, skin, shape, hair, clothes and all.

So I had to explain to him that I had pieced my looks together from several sources. I could tell him where to get my body and my skin and gave him a landmark. But I also told him that my shape is not a ready-made out-of-the-box shape but the results of hours of adjustment and repeated fine-tuning, and I don't want to share it with anyone. He got that and immediately left to shop some bodies, accessories, skins etc. before I could check and tell him what kinds of hair are available at Lbsa Plaza itself. Hint: It's Linda Kellie hair.

I myself didn't stay much longer. It was way past midnight, and I wasn't too keen on leading that guy around OSgrid and half the Hypergrid on a quest for what made me look the way I did that night, also because the nylon tights I wore that night were no-transfer, as are my eyes.

#OpenSim #OpenSimulator #Metaverse #VirtualWorlds #OSgrid #LbsaPlaza #VirtualTravelX-ZOT:https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/item/7012fd20-2c29-4727-a1ba-8d8252257e8e2023-11-07T10:21:01Z2023-11-07T10:21:01Zhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/posthttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno Rowlandhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno RowlandBreathe Resort is back againAfter moving from grid to grid, the Breathe Resort has found a new home. I think it must have been on #DiscoveryGrid at some point. I remember it on #ZetaWorlds, but it was offline a lot back then. It eventually resurfaced attached to #OSgrid, but on a poor server with terrible lag. The landing point was on top of TT's Treasures, a place that can only be reached or left by teleporting which is inconvenient if you love to walk around sims or use vehicles.

A couple of days ago, it joined the #WolfTerritoriesGrid. It seems to have an all-new landing in the southwestern corner with lots of teleporters. If you're lucky and the previous user has brought it back, a '58 Chevrolet Impala Convertible standing nearby amongst other vehicles. The lag from OSgrid days is gone.

There is a road that leads around the whole 5x5 varsim along the edges. But the best way to travel around it is on the water or through the air. Pick one of the various boats or other floating objects, use one of the rezzers or rez your own boat in the rez area east of the landing and west of the central station.

I recommend you to visit Harmony Island in the middle which is really the easiest to reach by boating. The Big Blue Bargain Basement offers the whole set of Fest'Avi avatars as far as I could see plus a few extras by Cherry Manga. Also, there is the full set of 26 complete avatars from Klamotto. Even if you don't need them as a whole, their ingredients may be useful, some of which can only be find in these avatars.

Otherwise, the inner shores of the Breathe Resort are very nicely made beaches. They may lack swim rezzers (ask me if you need them), but it's easy to get into and out of the water. If you want to change into something dry afterwards, there might only be few hiding-places, but the whole sim has an Adult rating, so you might not even have to hide. Or need swimwear in the first place. After all, this is a warm subtropical place.

Last but not least, a good advice for the ladies: Wear flat shoes or flat sandals and leave your 6" stilettos at home. Most surfaces on this #sim are sand.

#OpenSim #OpenSimulator #Metaverse #VirtualWorlds #VirtualTravel #WolfGridX-ZOT:https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/item/c1997473-7204-4e92-b166-62fcded7a9482023-10-15T19:22:28Z2023-10-15T19:22:28Zhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/posthttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno Rowlandhttp://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandhttps://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/channel/juno_rowlandjuno_rowlandJuno RowlandAutumn is officially hereYou can tell that I've accepted that summer is over when I put on my beloved autumn leaves tights by Morgaine Alter for the first time in months.
