The other day I came across an
article on Peppermint OS, which I hadn't heard of before. I've been looking for something lighter for my 10 year old desktop for quite a while. After my short KDE stint two or three weeks ago I had switched back to Cinnamon, which I hadn't used in a while, and it certainly beats GNOME in speed, but certain things where still awfully slow.
I tested out Peppermint on an old desktop which I'm setting up as the guest PC (we're gonna have a visitor from the U.S. for a couple of months, which is a good opportunity to do this), and I was seriously impressed with the speed. So I just dumped that Kubuntu installation I was trying out and installed Peppermint on my desktop as well. Can't wait to see how it holds up with more resource intense tasks like LuminanceHDR.
