I started looking into Linux Mint, as I'm really not very happy with Ubuntu (any flavor) right now; Canonical's Snap move is not something I'm overly excited about. I can't stand snaps, and I only install them if there is absolutely no other way to get what I want. They're too sluggish. (For that matter, I'm not a big fan of flatpak, either; although they seem to run somewhat smoother, they don't integrate very well in any desktop environment other than GNOME, and they're still not as fast as native apps.)
Anyway, what I noticed when I looked at the Linux Mint website is that they also have a Debian (buster) based version. I just did a quick test with the live system, and it looks pretty good. And since I just bought a 2TB hard disk, I actually have the luxury to install a third Linux distro on my desktop PC. I can use it for a bit and see if everything works, then I can decide if I want to make the switch.
