It's a little tricky because it's not one domain, like YouTube. Firstly, you have to allow domains from /admin/security.
And then, if I'm not mistaken, that will only allow the embeds for users on your own hub. Everybody else will just get links with no pictures in their stream. That's why I stopped embedding anything, since I don't know what everybody else will see.

I just made a quick demo with my demo channel using YouTube. The demo channel's name is Betty Allgood (please don't connect to it, I'm only using it to create screenshots for howtos.) Betty is connected to this channel (Tanja.)
Here's what the YouTube embed looks like on Betty's channel, even for users who are not logged in:
YouTube embed
.
There's a little preview, and when you click on that, you get the video to play within the Hubzilla post.
This is what it will look like on every hub that allows unfiltered embeds from YouTube, which I only just turned for this specific purpose. Now, the domain where Betty's channel is located is my secondary hub. On my primary one, where
this
channel's primary location is, I'm not allowing unfiltered embeds from anywhere, so all I get in my (Tanja's) stream, is this:
There's not even a preview image.
Now, this is YouTube, but PeerTube is the same way. I already had that set up for @
Alan Graham Music
, but then I noticed how the posts looked in my stream and I dumped the whole thing. I'm now attaching links again, which at least will show a preview.

Thanks. Though it laso means that this will change from server to server. Whixh means every server would have to have that particular instance whitelisted to see embeded video.

I should check how hubzilla will deal with the video being uploaded directly to hubzilla. Hubzilla does have built in player right?

Yes, it does. If you want video previews, you have to have ffmpeg installed on your server, and you have to upload through the web interface (not WebDAV), so you may need to tweak your PHP settings as well.

Each Peertube Activity contains a list of several different video transcodings. One of these is mp4 - which you can put into an HTML5 video tag. I believe Hubzilla will do this automatically when viewing a peertube channel in your stream. I added this code long ago (about 2 years) when peertube first started to federate. I don't know if anything has changed since then. You can view source and copy the resulting bbcode or share the peertube post.
Some time ago an enterprising developer also created a plugin for viewing/accessing webtorrent magnet links. This wasn't submitted to the Hubzilla project repository so like all such addons it could be difficult to find it again, but maybe this will jog somebody's memory who either remembers the discussions or made a copy of the plugin.

This looks cool but I fear it could easily turn into piracy minded practice which can bring a lot of issues and ton of spammers and other things you do not want to have your 'home' open to.

it is the same with peertube though. But I agree, video hosting is a bit risky.

With peertube, someone needs to upload a video first so you can have bigger control over it. Here if I understand correctly, one can start posting magnet links to stuff already on torrent and I find this quite risky.
