The Lincoln Project calls Trump un-American. As much as I like every opponent of Trump, these people have to understand that Trump is very American. He is an illiterate, ruthless, racist capitalist. What can be more American than that? That's why he received so many votes.
There is a big difference in the way Americans in the US like to see themselves and how they are perceived by the outside world. What Americans think of as being "American" was always just a dream but never the truth.
