Not sure whether it's stupidity, stubbornness, or simply that these people are ignorant to the fact that we have already solved managing data at this scale without having to rely on software built for amateur accountants.
Who on earth manages data in Excel?
Using a spreadsheet to do the job of a database is pure idiocy. It’s not fit for purpose. It’s trying to hammer a nail in with a roll of sandpaper; the tool simply doesn’t suit the job.
I can hear thousands of data scientists tearing their hair out and yelling "Excel Is Not a Database!".
£12 billion on a privatised track and trace system, which fails because of too many columns on a spreadsheet.
But perhaps they've given the job to someone who has "good at computers" on their CV...
